Rapping About a World at Risk

Barack Hussein Obama 44th President of the USA

Jasper Johns
No longer a nation of blue states and red states.

No longer a nation comprised of real Americans and the others.

No longer a nation of us and them.

No longer a nation ruled by fear.

No longer a nation steeped in suspicion and xenophobia.

Now One Nation Under God.

Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

Now a government answerable to its citizens.

May strength through peace be our watchword.

May freedom from fear be our blessing.

Let liberty and hope be the lamp that lights our path.

May knowledge, forbearance and faith
be a grace we confer upon a dark world.

May America rejoin the community of nations
as a practitioner of peace.

We salute our 44th President.

We wish him God Speed.

We pray for his success and his family’s safety.

May God bless the work of his hands and guide his mind.

May our nation cherish this blessed day.

Special Mission 28,000

Bush boarded Executive One.

He left town.

Flying back to Texas to clear some brush.

Badly shaken but still standing our nation
begins the earnest work of reconstructing the republic.

Fortunately the foundations of our nation remain strong.

Our constitution, our Bill of Rights, our rule of law,
tolerance, economic liberty and spirit of the people endure.

Thank you for your service to our country.

Goodbye Mr. Bush.

Cheney Limps Away from a Crippling Legacy

Vice President Dick Cheney hurt his back as he was packing and moving boxes to vacate his residency in a government owned housing complex. He’ll attend today’s inauguration of Barack Obama and Joseph Biden riding in a wheelchair. This is an appropos metaphor for the crippling effect the policies Bush and chief henchman Cheney pursued during their 8 years of power.

I would not put it past the cynical soul of this incidious man that Cheney is humoring his right wing supporters by using the wheelchair as a prop to covey his opinion that Obama and his policies will cripple the country.

Look around the Washington Mall today Mr. Cheney. See the outpouring of love and respect the people of this nation are showing the incoming president. And also know that the exuberance of the festivities are made that much sweeter by your departure from office.

Good bye Mr. Cheney.
